American Football on the rise in Germany.
After football, American football is the most popular sport in Germany among the 14- to 49-year-old age bracket*. With 11 million NFL fans**, Germany is the most important growth market for the NFL. The partnership between RTL Deutschland and the NFL aims to make the sport even more widespread in the country. American Football on all channels. And for all ages.
RTL Deutschland will use its entire media power to get everyone excited and reach their new target group via TV, podcast & radio (NFL radio stream), digital (among others: sport.de) and print (like Stern and Gala). American football is a family sport, which is why “TOGGO Touchdown” will offer cross-platform football content suitable for children. Every Saturday, host Florian Ambrosius will present a TV show for kids on SUPER RTL.
Sport at RTL is part of a bigger plan.
The acquisition of the NFL rights is part of RTL Deutschland’s strategy to achieve additional growth by expanding content in both linear television and streaming. Sport is a central component.
RTL also has extensive rights to the matches of the German national football team, the UEFA Europa League & UEFA Europa Conference League and to major motor sports events.
