Best Super Bowl Ads 2024

This year’s Super Bowl LVIII showdown at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers drew in over 123 million viewers worldwide. This marked the highest viewership in television history.

As always, the Super Bowl serves as a prime stage for advertisers, with a 30-second spot costing an average of 7 million dollars (Source: CNN). This year’s ads showcased a diverse range of themes, from artificial intelligence by companies like Google and Microsoft, to appearances by celebrities like Lionel Messi and Jennifer Aniston. Emotional appeals were also made, with ads from brands such as Kia and Dove!

Take a look at our favourite adverts which took the spotlight this year.

CeraVe – ‘Michael CeraVe’

The CeraVe skincare ad was undoubtedly a masterpiece and is bound to make an impact on brand awareness and foster a positive perception of the product’s quality. The advert played on the viral TikTok video where a user questioned if Michael Cera was behind CeraVe. It depicted a boardroom scene with CeraVe dermatologists clarifying that “Ve” represents MVE Technology and “Cera” refers to “ceramides,” not the actor Michael Cera. This touch of humour was a great move in capturing the eyes of the Superbowl

Uber Eats

Uber Eats also went down the a humourous route with a memorable advertisement centred around forgetfulness, highlighting their versatility beyond just take-out food. The ad featured big stars such as the “Friends” duo David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston, with Aniston hilariously forgetting her co-star. David and Victoria Beckham also made a feature, with Victoria struggling to remember the name of her band. Even music artist Jelly Roll participated, comically forgetting about his own facial tattoos.

Hellmann’s – ‘Mayo Cat’

Hellmann showcased their 4th Super Bowl ad this year, delving into the topic of food waste! This spot featured Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live) and introduced the very cute “Mayo Cat,” while including a cameo from Pete Davidson. In the ad, Mayo Cat helps communicate to McKinnon how to make effective use of leftovers which, naturally, includes using Hellmann’s while simultaneously reducing food waste.

Volkswagen – ‘An American Love Story’

Volkswagen’s ad took a trip down memory lane, celebrating the 75th anniversary of Volkswagen cars in the US. It presents a nostalgic tour of the brand’s 75-year history in America, beginning with the arrival of the first Type 1 vehicles—fondly nicknamed “The Beetle”, and ending with Buzz, a vehicle that will – later in 2024 – further usher in the brand’s commitment to electromobility.

Overall, it is safe to say that this year’s Super Bowl ads were of no disappointment, and we can’t wait to see what next year brings to the mix!
